This is an ASTM International Standard Test Method for determination of biodiesel in diesel fuel. The SpectroFTIR Q400, and the SpectroAlpha Q410 conform to the requirements of this specification. Copies of the complete method are available from the ASTM web site at http://www.astm.org. The full title and partial scope of the method is listed below:
ASTM D7371-07 Standard Test Method for Determination of Biodiesel (Fatty Acid Methyl Ester) in Diesel Fuel Oil Using Mid Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR-ATR-PLS Method)
- 1. Scope
- 1.1 This test method covers the determination of the content of fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) biodiesel in diesel fuel oils. It is applicable to concentrations from 1.00 to 20 volume %. This procedure is applicable only to FAME. Biodiesel in the form of fatty acid ethyl esters (FAEE) will cause a negative bias.
- 1.2 The values stated in SI units of measurement are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.
